BRIDGEPORT — An abandoned 20-by-20-foot, one-room building on Polk Street was burned to the ground in a suspicious fire late Wednesday. A neighboring abandoned home, about 15 feet away, was also damaged, said provisional Assistant Fire Chief Dominick Carfi. He estimated the two buildings have been vacant more than 10 years. A gasoline container was found near the small building, which was not connected to utilities, Carfi said. The fire started about 10:30 p.m. and took about 22 minutes to extinguish, the assistant chief said.
