Fire leaves 17 homeless in Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT — A dozen adults and five children were left temporarily homeless after a porch fire of undetermined origin damaged their Marion Street home Wednesday night. The Mid-Fairfield County chapter of the American Red Cross found temporary shelter for the displaced residents. The fire started on a rear second-floor porch of 205-207 Marion St. about 7 p.m., said provisional Assistant Fire Chief Ismael A. Pomales. It spread up the outside wall to the third floor but did not penetrate the home, he said. The cause of the fire was under investigation late Wednesday.
