563 Stillman (John-3)

Heavy fire out two windows on the first floor of this occupied six-family quickly auto extended to the 2nd, 3rd, and roof. After venting the roof, the chauffeur of Ladder Ten was trapped briefly after being cut off from the 45' pole ladder thrown on the "C". Doing more with less means this fire went to a 2nd alarm.

Firefighter rescued in blaze
BRIDGEPORT — A firefighter escaped serious injury Saturday afternoon after the roof of a burning building he was standing on collapsed. The firefighter, who was not identified, dropped into the burning building at 563 Stillman St., but was quickly rescued after a ladder was placed into a nearby window. The six families living inside the Victorian-style building also escaped. Two female residents, however, were taken to Bridgeport Hospital for smoke inhalation.
