BRIDGEPORT — A homeless man seriously injured in a fire that destroyed two Gregory Street houses Saturday was upgraded to stable condition Tuesday. William "Felix" Jackson, 45, who had burns over 25 percent of his body, is being treated at Bridgeport Hospital's burn center. He initially was listed in critical condition. Fire officials said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

On the 4th deck of the parking garage at Bridgeport hospital a car caught fire. FCC sent 1+1 and on arrival Engine 6 called for the box. The fire was contained to one auto using one 1-3/4 line off the standpipe.

BRIDGEPORT — A memorial service is planned Sunday for the four victims of the July 4 drowning at Beardsley Park. Mayor John M. Fabrizi and local clergy will lead a 5 p.m. ceremony at the park to honor the lives of the mother and three children who drowned when their van plunged into Bunnell's Pond and submerged under 20 feet of water.

BRIDGEPORT — The fourth passenger in a van that plunged into Bunnell's Pond in Beardsley Park has died. Jayden Wilson, 6, of Palm Street, who had been in critical condition at Yale-New Haven since being transferred there Wednesday afternoon from Bridgeport Hospital, died at 1:43 p.m. Thursday.
