Bridgeport duplex fire leaves 10 homeless
BRIDGEPORT — An early-morning fire at a West Side duplex left about 10 people homeless today. Fire Inspector Charles Dimbo said the blaze started on the front porch of the structure at 114-116 Hanover St., near the corner of Seeley Street and one block south of State Street. The first report of the blaze was called in at about 3:20 a.m.

A stolen car was stripped and torched in a narrow alley next to 641 Hollister Ave. The fire extended to building 9A of Moore Tool. A paint room and roof were damaged. The 171,000 sq ft complex spans a full block from Union to Hollister.

The original box was for 410 State St (Adam-3) but the actual fire was at 600 State St. The fire involved a printing press. The normally assigned 1st-due ladder was off duty at the shop.

The building sustained smoke and water damage. Fourteen people working at the plant when the fire broke out at 5:09 p.m. were evacuated as heavy smoke engulfed the building and could be seen three blocks away.
